Asad A. Alam

Patron, LUMS Entrepreneurial Society

Asad is Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with extensive knowledge and experience in assurance and business advisory. He did his MBA in entrepreneurship from University of Wisconsin – Madison with specialization in analyzing startups and private equity markets. While at Madison , Asad represented the school at various venture capital investment and business plan competitions and won numerous awards and grants. He was also involved in launching Entrepreneurship Association, a not for profit organization with a mission to create awareness among students regarding entrepreneurial ventures, and acted as the CFO. Asad has considerable experience in the areas of financial audit, business valuation, financial projections and family business planning and has provided a wide range of consulting services to various small and medium sized businesses in the United States . Currently he is teaching business combination (merger and acquisition), corporate financial reporting and entrepreneurship courses to BSc. and MBA students. He is also involved in coaching and mentoring new business startups and teaching seminars through Rausing Executive Development Center (REDC) at LUMS to mid to upper management of various local and multinational companies.

Dr. Rana has published papers in Computer & Operations Research, European Journal of Operations Research, Journal of the Operational Research Society, International Journal of Supply Chain Management and Malaysian Journal of Small and Medium Enterprises. His research interests are in the areas of supply chain management, productivity and project management. He has done work related to improving quality, productivity and inventory management practices for companies in the knitwear and leather industries. He has been Consultant/Academic Advisor for a couple of Universities, where he helped them develop and implement new systems for faculty evaluation and development, as well as upgrading their curriculum and facilities.  He is currently heading the Textile Productivity initiative at LUMS.
