The Centre for Management and Economic
Research (CMER) is a research centre
of the Lahore University of Management
Sciences, which was founded in 1992
with initial funding from CIDA through
the LUMS-McGill Linkage Project.
The mission of CMER is to stimulate,
coordinate, and conduct research on
major management and economic issues
facing Pakistan and the region as
well as indicate directions that can
be followed profitably in future.
CMER research and dissemination roles
are structured around three inter-related
activities: research output in the
form of working papers, cases and
research monographs; creation of data
resources; and organization of seminars
and conferences.
In its initial phase, CMER was a sole
initiative of the Graduate School
of Business Administration with assistance
from the faculty of economics. Later,
with expansion in LUMS faculty and
their interests, the focus of the
centre has been widened to promote
and carry out independent academic
and policy oriented research at LUMS
in core disciplines of economics,
management sciences, and development
studies.
